Day 16, Saturday, June 27th (488 miles)
We slept in a little--mostly to avoid going out into the 100-degree climate outside! But we finally braved the short walk from our trailer to the Circus Circus Casino, where we had a buffet breakfast (what else would we have in Vegas?), put a few dollars in a slot machine (it's pretty boring...I didn't realize that they only take paper money, that you push a buttons rather than pulling the arm and that you don't get any money out of the machine, just a paper voucher that you turn in at the cashier), and played a few games in the arcade with the kids.
Then it was time to hit the long road home. We had initially intended to stay one night somewhere midway between Vegas and home, but the call of home was strong, and we decided to push on through. We pulled up in front of our house about 11:30 p.m. Boy were the kitties happy to see us! (Thanks to Kristin for taking such good care of them while we were away and to Mom and Dad for checking the house and cats as well.)
Here's a short recap of our trip:
3,605 Miles
825 Digital Photos
350 Gallons of Diesel
16 Days
9 National Parks and Monuments
8 Campgrounds
6 States
1 Awesome Truck & Trailer Rig
Here's one last photo of George and Leland after they proudly filled in 5 more states on our US map on the rig.
Thanks for following our journey. Next year, we'll go to Yellowstone. Anyone interested in joining us? Just let us know--we're starting to plan now!
